The city that never sleeps
madrid372
There is a reason why Madrid is called “the city that never sleeps”. If it is already great fun to hang out during the day, at night is it no different, especially on the days before weekends and public holidays. In Spain, dinner time is late so nightlife doesn’t start until around 11 pm. And, of course, if it starts late, it ends late. It is usual to see people wandering around until late hours (4, 5, 6 am) and, NO, they are not going to work or coming home from work.

The “gatos” (cats) as the Madrileños are known locally don’t stick to one place. They go from bar to bar, disco to disco, until they have it for the night. But it is all in the name of having a good time!!!
Rock in Rio

For the first time in 2008, Madrid will host the biggest music event of all time: the Rock in Rio. After Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid was the city chosen to host this event. For four days, Madrid will live for music and breathe music, as the biggest stars from around the world get together to make their contribution to a better world.

Thousands of people from all over the planet come to Rock in Rio not only to see their favourite artists but also because this event has a purpose and that is to make people see that we are all the same despite the differences and Rock in Rio is definitely a way to come closer together.

After the huge success it had in Brazil and in Portugal, Rock in Rio will, for sure, make Madrid also a better place. National and international artists will bring a little bit of their magic to Madrid and make it an unforgettable event.

So don’t forget, in 2008 Madrid is the place to go!
Bullfight: spanish tradition

Not only is Madrid one of the most important cities in Spain, it is also the house of one of the most important and beautiful (for some) events. We are talking about the so called “torada” or bullfight.

This event calls thousands of people to Madrid every year, between March and October, but it is in June, during the “Fiera de San Isidro”, that the bullfights become the main event, as everyday there is at least one at the Plaza de las Ventas.

Many people love it, many hate it, but no one is indifferent to this battle that puts men and bulls head to head to see which one wins. So, during two full hours the arena becomes the stage of an incredible show with vibrant colours and beautiful costumes worn by the bullfighters, who uphold hundreds of years of tradition in their well-rehearsed and graceful movements

It may not have a happy ending but it is definitely worth seeing it!
