Toledo was described by Cervantes as the “glory of Spain”. In fact this city located in the top of a mountain and on aurn t of the river Tagus was always a pole of attraction, the Visigoths and the moors were the first ones to discover it special “light”.
On the other hand, Toledo is also known as the city of the three cultures because Arabs, Christians and Jews live together for centuries. That is way there are important religious monuments with influences of these cultures. Aware of this importance and being Toledo a repository of history for at least 2000 years UNESCO classified Toledo as World Heritage in 1986.

The ex-libris and the most important monument of Toledo is it cathedral, in fact this is the monument which stands out in the city landscape. The construction of the cathedral was begun in the 13th century and it was only finished in the 15th century.

Toledo is an open-air museum of various cultures enriched with mosques, synagogues, churches, fortresses from different cultures.
